Downloading and listening to your Guitar Band Tracks mp3s when using a laptop or desktop computer is very easy--as simple as clicking on the link you receive after purchasing your Guitar Band Tracks. Your computer will download and unzip the file, then you can drag and drop your mp3s to iTunes or any music player you want. Pretty simple.

And getting the mp3s to play on an iOS device (iPad, iPhone) or Android device only requires one or two more steps depending on what you'd like to do. Here's the run down on your options for iOS and Android:

iOS Devices (iPad, iPhone):

  • Option 1: sync with iTunes. Most people want to be able to play their tracks in iTunes; however, since your Guitar Band tracks are not being purchased through iTunes, then you have to use a workaround to be able to play them in iTunes.  The one practical way to do this is by syncing your iTunes with your laptop or desktop computer (if you don't have a laptop or desktop computer, then you'll have to use Option 2, below). To sync, you need to first download the mp3s on your laptop or desktop and get them into iTunes. Do this by clicking on the link in your email. Your computer will download and unzip the file, then you can drag and drop your new mp3s into iTunes. After you've done this, sync your iTunes on your computer with your iOS device, and that's it. You'll now have all your Guitar Band Tracks visible in your iTunes on your iOS device. If you need more help with syncing, click here
  • Option 2: use ZipApp. If you do not have a laptop or desktop computer then you're going to have to use a different app to play your Guitar Band Tracks. The app I recommend for this is ZipApp Free. It can unzip your zip file then allow you to play the mp3s from within the app. When you click on the link that you received after your purchase, just choose to open the downloaded file with ZipApp.

Android Devices:

When you click on the link to download your Guitar Band tracks, you will be downloading a "zip" file. Many Android devices do not come built with apps that allow you to "unzip" (aka, decompress) zip files. So, in order to access the MP3s, you will need to get an app that allows you to unzip. The app I recommend is AndroZip File Manager. Just open your zip file with this AndroZip app and then save the unzipped files to your music folder. You then should be able to play your Guitar Band Tracks in your music player.
