Hi! I’m Jairus Withrow (aka Mr. Withrow), and I’m so excited that you’re here and interested in having your child take private guitar lessons. Guitar is such a beautiful, powerful, and versatile instrument. I’ve been teaching students of all ages for over 10 years (more info about myself below), and I’ve never ceased to be amazed at the most excellent experiences and creative skills it brings into their lives!

Here's some major benefits from learning to play guitar:

  • Improved fine motor skills & increased vocabulary

  • Enhanced auditory/music awareness

  • Expanded memorization ability & graphics comprehension

  • Developed creative & problem solving skills

  • Improved cooperative learning, and

  • Preparation for playing in a band or ensemble

Guitar has given my son the opportunity to be creative—to know how to express himself. We actually have to pull him out of his room because he loves playing so much! And when he performs, we really can see just how good Mr. Withrow’s instruction is!
— Mimi Dencklau, student’s mother.

I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years, have recorded multiple albums (both solo and with my band Bus Seven), play stages with thousands of spectators (I play large venues weekly), and am an active songwriter who collaborates with artists from all over the world. I’ve got a ton of experience and I infuse all of that into my teaching. I teach in a way that prepares my students for real world experiences and cuts out any fluff. I’m passionate about finding out what inspires my students to play, then using that as a catapult to launch them forward in learning the technique, skills, and theory that professional musicians use day in and day out.
